David Purkey, head of the USA-branch Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), will visit NTNU and SINTEF Energy October 1st and 2nd. David is a specialist in water resources management and carries out project in California as well as globally. His research interests include understanding the potential impacts of and adaptation to climate change in the water sector and aquatic ecosystems, integrated water resources management that focuses on linking the management of surface water and groundwater to meet a broad spectrum of objectives, and equitable management of transboundary water resources. Much of his work centers around the development, dissemination and application of SEI's Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) system. It will be of special interest to meet and listen to David, given the dramatic water situation in California. David Purkey holds a PhD in hydrology from Univeristy of California.
David will hold a guest lecture at NTNU Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering Thursday October 1st at 9:15 with the tentative title "Water resources management in California under the 4-year drought & reflections on the global water situation". The lecture will be held at NTNU Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering (S.P. Andersens veg 5, Valgrinda 442), in room VG2. The lecture is open for all.
