Market in 'Business as usual'

No major decisions are made at EU and North European level towards the integration of electricity markets. In Norway, there will be low electricity prices during periods, in regions with significant small scale hydro generation and low demand. The balancing of the limited Nordic wind generation is handled locally.

Germany is continuing on the path to achieve the goals for 100% renewable electricity supply in 2070 (and not in 2050). The country is covering its balancing needs by increasing its interconnection capacities with South europe and investing in locally available storage technolofgies and possibilities, e.g. adiabatic compressed air energy storage in salt caverns, hydrogen storage and  in Northern Germany.
