Policy in 'Green Balance'

Norway is implementing the climate agreements and builds balancing power to contribute to EU’s climate goals. The country’s engagement is accepted by the society since the economic, environmental and social concerns are dealt with in sustainable manner (revision of laws, white paper on energy policy that takes the sustainability challenges into account, improved knowledge about the environmental impacts and how to mitigate them

The system for trading green certificated offers strong incentives for further development of the hydropower system. Important bilateral agreements between the countries in Northern Europe are made in order to offer incentives and a stable investment climate in new generation (hydropower) and transmission infrastructure.

Long term agreements and contracts for balancing services are made between market actors and supported by the states.
